Culturally Competent Community Care

Care is culture. Learn practical ways to ask with care, honor tradition, and make every interaction more welcoming—across identities, languages, and beliefs.

You’ll learn:

  • Culture-check micro-skills — how to ask (with consent), avoid assumptions, and center the person’s words.
  • Pronouns & names — intros, corrections, and graceful repair when mistakes happen.
  • Care agreements — capturing access needs, food/herb/faith notes, privacy, and photo consent.
  • Harm-repair — short, trauma-informed apologies and moving on without re-centering yourself.
  • Bias micro-interventions — quick bystander flows for meetings, group chats, and clinics.

You’ll leave with:

  • Culture-check guide (what to ask / what to avoid)
  • Pronoun & name protocol (intros, corrections, missteps)
  • Care-agreement template (access, food/herb/faith, privacy)
  • Do/Don’t language bank for everyday use
  • Harm-repair script kit (1:1, group, email/text)
  • Quick bystander flow to address bias in the moment
  • Trauma-informed intake sample (inclusive fields)
  • Referral map template for culturally specific providers

Format: 2 hours · virtual or in-person
Access: ASL/CART or language interpretation available with advance request; step-free venues whenever possible.
