Inclusive Language & Affirming Care

Words can heal or harm. Build everyday habits that affirm gender, family, body, and ability—and learn how to repair when you miss.

You’ll learn:

  • How to ask with care (consent-based questions; what to avoid)
  • Pronoun & name best practices (intros,      corrections, missteps)
  • Inclusive family terms (partner/co-parent/guardian;      chosen kin)
  • Plain-language, non-stigmatizing words for health and crisis
  • Interpreter & access requests (interpreters, CART, sensory needs)
  • Basics of alt-text and captions for accessible communication
  • A simple harm-repair flow that centers the person impacted

You’ll leave with:

  • Pocket swaps guide (what to say / what to retire)
  • Pronoun & name protocol (scripts for 1:1 and groups)
  • Repair script kit (in person, email, text,      meetings)
  • Inclusive intake template (name, pronouns, access needs)
  • Interpreter request mini-template you can      copy/paste
  • Alt-text & captions quick-start checklist
  • Inclusive event checklist (signage, bathrooms, seating, sensory)

Format:2 hours · virtual or in-person
Access: ASL/CART or language interpretation available with advance request; step-free venues whenever possible.
