Families are chosen, blended, and beautifully complex. Learn practical tools to support loved ones through conflict, set caring boundaries, and build pods that share the work—and the love. Educational workshop; not therapy or legal advice.
You’ll learn:
- Family-systems basics (common roles/patterns) and how they appear in care
- De-escalation skills: grounding, needs-naming, options over blame
- Boundaries that stick: “I” statements, time limits, follow-through
- Chosen-family mapping: build a care pod (primary, backup, crisis roles)
- Consent & privacy check-ins for home, clinic, and hospital settings
- Common conflict scripts (in-laws, co-parents, over-helpers)
- Bias-aware support for queer/trans, blended, and multi-generational families
- Crisis vs. routine: red flags, simple safety plans, when to escalate
You’ll leave with:
- Conflict flow (pause → name → needs → options → next step)
- Conversation scripts for tough talks and de-escalation
- Support-map template (“who’s on deck?” roles + backup plan)
- Boundary menu with gentle escalation steps
- Family/Pod agreement template (roles, contact, access needs)
- Safety & consent checklists for visits and appointments
- Resource mini-directory (hotlines, mediation, family supports)
