Community Postpartum Traditions

Reclaim Black & BIPOC postpartum wisdom—rest, nourishment, and ritual—so new parents feel held, not hurried. We pair gentle herbal know-how with practical supports for the first 6 weeks that everyone should know.

You’ll learn:

  • Postpartum physiology basics and why deep      rest matters (0–6 weeks).
  • Nourishment & warming foods (easy      broths/teas; meal-train tips).
  • Herbal safety 101—when herbs help, cautions with      meds & lactation.
  • Visitor boundaries & roles for partners, aunties, and friends.
  • Baby blues vs. PMADs (perinatal mood/anxiety) and warm handoffs.
  • Red flags & urgent care—what to watch and how to act fast.

You’ll leave with:

  • 7-day postpartum care menu (rest, fluids, warming foods, gentle movement).
  • Herbal infusion & oil recipes + a pocket safety/contraindication      card.
  • Visitor/boundary plan template (who, when, how long, what to bring/do).
  • Support-roles map for partners & kin (rides, meals, overnights, texts).
  • Red-flags checklist + clinic/911 decision guide.
  • Resource mini directory (lactation, hotlines, community clinics).

 Format: 2 hours · virtual or in-person

Access: ASL/CART or language interpretation with advance request; step-free venues whenever possible.
